Scarfed Joint
Last night my wife and I the opportunity to attend a friend's birthday party (age not disclosed!) held in southern Vermont at a mutual friend's house. Walking into the warm and inviting dining room, I was pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful, hand cut timber frame addition that demanded attention!
Cut from local red oak by hand with a combination of our friend's vision and his builder's expertise, this unique room invited us to enjoy a wonderful meal with the gazing, majestic timbers overhead and surrounding us. Erected in 1989, the frame is sealed with structrual insulated panels (SIPs) creating an energy efficient (and very warm!) room. Even while the temperature dipped close to 30 last night, we remained warm inside without a fire.
Decorated with unique art, the beautify of the frame is only heightened! It truly was a joy to spend time with great friends and enjoy fabulous food and drink in this spectacular room.
