Joan and Brian Moriarty decided to build a custom timber frame in Colorado after frequent vacations to the area. Originally from New England, with a desire to design a timber frame to fit the setting of Colorado, they hired local architect Karen Smuland to design their dream retirement home.The timber frame home was designed to blend in with the mountain setting and overlook a nearby lake. The couple chose Davis Frame Company to provide the timber framing after falling in love with our product and the simple beauty of our timber frames. After being published in in several different magazine articles and receiving a great amount of interest in this mountain style timber frame home, Davis Frame Company decided to make this a custom floor plan feature on our website.
This mountain home floor plan features 4,200 sq. ft. of living space. The entry of the home leads into the spacious great room and flows nicely with an open layout to the dining room and kitchen. The homeowners wanted to have an open floor plan that would allow for entertaining. There are also two spacious decks off of the great room which allows the homeowners to expand its entertaining outside during the warm months.The decks off the great room also allows the owners to take in the beauty of the Colorado mountains surrounding them. This timber frame would look great in any mountainous region or any lot where you may want to take advantage of your future homes' views. This timber frame also features first floor laundry and a master suite.
The second floor of this Colorado mountain home has two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. An inspiring study space in the loft was designed to enjoy the surrounding views in multiple directions.

I have to agree that this floor plan is great! I love the spacious open first floor plan and also love the decks off of the great room, perhaps my favorite part. This home is truly beautiful, so nice that it was actually featured in 2 magazines.
