Update on Hybrid Timber Frame Home in Sunapee NH

Scissor Truss Frame

This Sunapee, New Hampshire home is a perfect example of building a hybrid timber frame. The hybrid timber frame home features three beautiful scissor truss bent frames giving this custom designed home an artistic flair. The scissor trusses are located in the great room, kitchen and dining room. The remainder of the home also features some timber frame members that compliment the design of the home. The home is an example of how timber framing can be incorporated into any style home in a cost effective way and add beauty to a home without having to use a full timber frame structural system for the home.

The NH hybrid home uses our Energy Smart Insulated Panel System, eSIPS. eSIPS is a relatively new soy-based wall and roof panel division of Davis Frame Company. This building system has enabled us to expand our product offerings while staying true to our commitment to building beautiful energy efficient homes, but now at a lower finished cost than a full timber frame home.

One of our favorite pre-designed timber frame homes from our Classic Barn Home line is the Classic Farmhouse 1B. This timber frame floor plan offers traditional elements that make it have true farmhouse character. This traditional farm style home is perfect in any setting and offers 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and 2,943 sq. ft. making this a spacious home to grow in. A wrap around porch is common to see on a farmhouse and Classic Farmhouse 1B features a wrap around timber frame porch on two sides.


The entry of the timber frame farmhouse opens up into the spacious living room to the left of the entry. To the right of the entry is an open dining room and kitchen. The openness of the kitchen and dining rooms allows for plenty of space to enjoy a meal with your family. A mud room is also off of the kitchen to allow for first floor laundry or a place to store your shoes and coats.

The second floor of this home features a spacious master suite with a cathedral ceiling. One of our Classic Farmhouse 1B clients added a fireplace to their master suite to make it more cozy. Two additional bedrooms and a bath are also on the second floor.

One bonus feature of this floor plan is an additional third floor which adds another 375 sq. ft. to the home. The third floor offers a third bedroom and good size loft. This is perfect for guests or to use as office space for privacy.
