Custom Timber Frame Barn Project in New York

The Davis Timber Frame shop just finished working on a timber frame barn that will be built in the Hudson Valley of New York. The Douglas fir frame will feature two 34' span timber frame trusses incorporating metal rods and hardware. The purpose of the metal rods and hardware for this barn is both for support and for looks! Although we typically work with oak pegs and use traditional timber frame joinery, we have also worked with several clients to incorporate metal hardware and other custom finish details.

Timber Frame Home in Gloucester Massachusetts

Jeff Amero has worked with his hands all his life, first as a welder in Gloucester, Massachusetts, shipyards and currently as owner of J&L Welding and Machine Company. With a father who is a retired machinist, it seems that Jeff was born to be an artisan.

When he and wife Lillian acquired a 30-acre wooded tract overlooking the Massachusetts Bay and village of Magnolia, they already knew that they would build a timber frame home. "Timber frames epitomize what a home should be-expansive, yet inviting enough to welcome guests," Jeff says.

The Ameros believe that wood, iron and stone are uniquely complementary materials, so each is a central element in their home. "We feel a powerful affinity to these materials, which, to us, define Old World quality." The most distinctive wood elements are the Douglas fir timbers, while stone is represented in the great room's massive fireplace and granite countertops in the kitchen. Timber Frame Floor Plan Feature: Classic Studio 1

Davis Frame Company's line of studio floor plans were designed to be suited for a wide range of uses. Many of Davis Frame clients have used the studio models as small homes, weekend getaways or even as an addition to their current home. Others have used it for their own art or work studio.

The Classic Studio 1 features open concept first floor living. There is a large living room and it is open to the kitchen and dining area. The second floor features a bedroom and full bathroom.
