Update on Catskills New York Timber Frame Home

timber frame home catskills new york

Alan and Donna recently built their new Davis Frame Catskills New York timber frame vacation home! While the new timber frame house is not complete, some of the furniture is in and the happy couple will finish the interior in the coming months.  They are now elbow deep with landscaping (having just planted 30 Norway spruce seedlings) and shall enjoy outdoor country living this summer! This country retreat in a beautiful pastoral setting is sure to be loved for years to come.

Spring Clean For Your Health and Your Home!

martha stewart's cleaning ist

Who doesn't enjoy a sparkling clean house? Most of us can agree a clean house creates a less stressful environment; however, the process of doing a thorough cleaning can be daunting. Not many homeowners want to slave all weekend cleaning; I know I don't and that is why I highly recommend taking baby steps, for example, tackle one room at a time.

Why is spring cleaning a must? It is good for your health! For one, removing dust that has accumulated from your heating system over the winter will help your allergies and lessen your chances of getting sick (don't forget your baseboard molding). Haven't checked your smoke or carbon monoxide detectors? This one small step that could save your life. And, trust me, you will be amazed to learn how dirty your windows really were after cleaning them (they will literally glisten). I personally find a clean house more relaxing, you may just find it was the zen you were looking for.

If you are planning on selling your home soon so you can upgrade or build a new home, doing spring cleaning can actually help you sell your home. By decluttering and making your home sparkle, this will increase the chances of your home being sold. Own a new home already? Spring cleaning will help you maintain the longevity of your home so you hopefully won't have to replace those windows or furnace for a long time or get rid of your expensive rugs in 5 years.

I found a great spring cleaning list created by Martha Stewart. Her list features tips for every room and even gives you advice on how to clean your windows properly. One other task I also recommend is to have someone come clean your furnace at least once a year. This will help your furnace be more efficient. I firmly believe that spring cleaning is not only good for your health, but your home's health too. Maintaining your home is important to its longevity and yours.

Check out Martha Stewart's cleaning list today (make sure to print out the list)!

Catskills Timber Frame Home Update

timber frame home under construction in the catskills

The siding installation for this new home is well underway.

In December of 2011, we shipped a timber frame home package to our clients who are building a vacation home on their land in the Catskills region in New York. The building crew has been busy working on the timber frame home for the past couple of months and the home is making great progress! The siding is almost completely installed and the building crew raised the timber frame carport last week. Check out the updated photos that our client Bill sent along!

New Hampshire Panelized Home Update

panelized home on a lake in new hampshire

Have you checked out our panelized home product, Energy Smart Insulated Panel System (eSIPS)? Here at Davis Frame Company, we introduced eSIPS panelized homes to the market a few years ago as an alternative to our timber frame and SIPs homes.

Last year we worked with a client who was building a home on his lakeside property in New Hampshire. He chose to use our eSIPS panelized home system to build his new custom home. He also added an octagon timber frame room off of the living room that offers a spectacular view of the water.

The new home features an open and spacious first floor plan with the kitchen and the living room open to one another. Off of the living room is a timber frame room that looks out over the water. Also included on the first floor is the master bedroom suite, equipped with a walk-in closet and bathroom. The second floor of the home features 3 bedrooms and a shared bathroom. A finished basement is also included in the plan to include storage space and a large game room to entertain guests.

Check out the recent photos we received from our client:

Quality Vermont Made Products To Consider For Your Home

forest view timber frame home

Hubbardton Forge lighting is featured throughout this Vermont timber frame home.

Are you looking for decorating ideas and products for your home? Whether you're decorating your current home or outfitting your new home with new furnishings it can be daunting to find good quality products that match your style. I know exactly how it feels as my husband and I purchased our first home a few years ago and did a total renovation. After renovating our home, I went straight to work to find furnishings for our home. It was challenging to find good quality products and it was a big headache to shop for 8 rooms!

Little did I know that there are some fabulous home products right near our timber frame headquarters in Claremont, NH that I didn't even consider and many of them offer American made quality home products! Over the years, many of our clients have been incorporating New England handcrafted products and we can understand why, most of them offer long lasting products that will withstand the test of time. Below are a couple of client's favorite choices and they are within an hour from Davis Frame! You won't be disappointed by these options:

Hubbardton Forge began crafting high quality wrought-iron lighting in an old Vermont barn in the 1970's (we started in an old barn too!). Over the years, their product line has grown tremendously and they are a well sought out lighting company and are featured in many lighting stores. The company is located in Castleton, Vermont and is the oldest and largest forge in the United States. If you're looking for quality chandeliers, lamps or any other kind of lighting, we can attest that Hubbardton Forge is the best (and our clients too!). Over the years, many of our clients have chosen Hubbardton Forge, for one, because of the quality and two because the wrought-iron lighting complements timber framing beautifully. Visit Hubbardton Forge online today!

Simon Pearce is well known for its beautiful hand blown glass pieces. Simon Pearce began his hand blown glass business during the 1970's in Ireland and during the early 1980's moved his business to Vermont. In 1997, they added a pottery line to their product line. You can visit their headquarters in Windsor, Vermont to see their glassblowers and potters at work. You can also visit their retail store and restaurant in Quechee, Vermont, located a half an hour north of Windsor. If you're looking for dinnerware, glassware, glass hurricanes or pottery, Simon Pearce is a must stop! You can also order Simon Pearce products online.
