Another view of the wall of windows. This is a popular feature in many timber frame homes because it allows the homeowner to take advantage of the view outdoors and it also increases the amount of natural light coming in.

Timeless Homes are Beautiful and Affordable

A Classic Colonial post and beam home

There's something special about the traditional home styles of days gone by, they are familiar, warm and offer lots of character. A traditional style home is not only timeless and beautiful, but they can actually be more cost effective to build due to their simple lines and shapes. Now one thing about many of the traditional homes that are on the market today is that they are not always the most energy efficient, which is a growing concern for many homeowners.

So how do you achieve a timeless home that is also energy efficient? Besides the option of extensively renovating an existing home on the market which can be costly, many homeowners are choosing to build new homes that resemble timeless designs like the colonial, farmhouse and cape.

At Davis Frame Company, we designed a series we call Classic Barn Homes which reflect the traditional architecture of days gone by. We designed our Classic Barn series to offer simple and more cost effective designs. It is possible that you could save 20%-30% on the total cost to build in comparison to a custom designed home that features a more complex design.

Our series features, barn homes, colonials, farmhouses, capes, homesteads and sugar houses. With the quality building materials we offer in our packages, we can provide you with a legacy home that you and your family will enjoy for generations to come. Whether you choose to build a timber frame home or purely panelized, we guarantee that our homes will withstand the test of time and will offer you one of the most energy efficient homes on the market today. Our timeless designs will blend perfectly with older homes in the neighborhood, it may even be hard to tell from the outside what is a new home and what is an older home.

New Jersey Timber Frame Raising

Our latest timber frame raising is in Cumberland County, New Jersey and is being managed by our Independent Representative team, Timber Frames Unlimited. Rick Bascom, co-owner of Davis Frame Company, traveled down to New Jersey to work with our client's local builder to raise the timber frame and panels. The timbers were unloaded on Monday, the bents assembled on Tuesday and the timber frame was completed by Wednesday, talk about rapid installation!

The new custom timber frame home will feature 2,540 SF with the main living space on one floor, a second floor loft and a walk-out basement. Upon entering the home, there will be a powder room to the left and a piano room to the right. Beyond the entrance, there will be a central and spacious 19'X20' timber framed great room. The great room will open into the kitchen and dining room area to the left. To the right of the great room, will be the master bedroom suite and laundry area. On the basement level there will be a one car garage, storage and a finished area equipped with two bedrooms and a bathroom. The second floor will host an open loft that will overlook the first floor great room, a great place to enjoy the timbers.

The Ultimate Outdoorsman Retreat

Imagine owning your own perfect escape, a place where you can be close to nature and experience total relaxation. That is what one of our client's dreamed of for his new timber frame vacation retreat. The new barn was designed to be a weekend getaway, a place to relax and to enjoy the scenery and the four seasons that New Hampshire has to offer. The property where this new barn is being built features a spectacular 180 degree view of the mountains and lake nearby. This indeed will be the ultimate outdoorsman's getaway!

Last week Jeff Davis, President of Davis Frame Company, worked with our client and his local building crew to raise the new timber frame barn in Northern New Hampshire. The 30'X40' barn style structure features traditional timber framing wrapped with our eSIPS panelized wall system. The barn will feature 3 bays on the lower level that will feature plenty of space for the homeowner's car, boat and toys, while the second floor will host living quarters for the homeowner to enjoy on the weekends. The timber frame living quarters features a kitchen and dining combo with a living room to the right and a spacious master suite to the left. To add charm to this outdoorsman's retreat, a timber frame cupola will be added to the structure to give it barn character. A spiral staircase from the main living space will lead to the cupola, which will be a great place to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding this vacation home!

Building a Timber Frame in the Spring of 2013?

Are you thinking about building a new timber frame home in the Spring of 2013? If you're and you haven't started the design process, you may want to think about finding a design team to work with you on your new home design!

At Davis Frame Company, we can offer you design services for your new timber frame home. Our design process can take as little as a month if you plan to modify one of our predesigned timber frame plans, or if you would like a custom home design, the process could take a up to a few months. Once you have a plan developed and are satisfied with your completed timber frame design, the next step is to get bids from local contractors and work on getting permits to start the construction process. This process can also take some time, depending on how many contractors you interview and also how long it will take your town to approve your plans.

As you can see, there is a lot of prep work that needs to be done before you start construction and we definitely suggest getting all your ducks in a row so that the process comes together seamlessly and you have no delays once you are ready to start building!

If you should decide to move forward with a package from us, it can take us 8-12 weeks to cut and deliver your frame. With our estimated time from design to delivery, the process can take up to 4-6 months, depending on our design and production schedule.

Ready to start your new home design? We would love to have the opportunity to discuss your project with you. Call us at 800-636-0993!
