Winter Wonderland Timber Frame Homes

A dream timber frame ski home in Vermont.

It's finally snowing here in New Hampshire and it appears that we won't have another snowless winter after all! If you're going to live in New England and it's going to be cold, it may as well snow, right? This is our first major snow storm in well over a year and we couldn't be more excited for our winter sports fans. To honor today's snow storm, we are going to share a few of our client's timber frame homes in the winter. Check out a few of our photos below:

Update on New Jersey Timber Frame Home

The building crew working on our client's new timber frame home in Cumberland County, New Jersey is making great progress! The frame raising was in mid October and now in December, the crew is working on the interior of the timber frame. Our Mid-Atlantic Independent reps Timber Frames Unlimited, visited the site and took a few photos, check out the progress below!

The crew is currently building a fireplace in the great room of the home.

Update on Vermont Barn Home

We recently visited the jobsite for one of our client's new homes that is under construction in Lamoille County, Vermont. This new barn home is almost complete! The crew from Sisler Builders is wrapping up the interior of the new timber frame home. The property had an existing barn on it and the homeowners wanted to connect their new home to the barn. You could never tell that these two structures were joined together, the barn home addition was designed to match perfectly with the existing barn structure.

The new timber frame home features 1,630 SF and a very open first floor plan. The spacious master suite is also located on the first floor. The second floor is an open lofted space that overlooks the first floor. The loft can be used as another seating area or could be a sleeping loft for guests.

Check out a few of the latest photos below!

The lofted space on the second floor. As you can see, there are two lofted areas, separated by a small wall. The front portion of the loft could be a sitting area and the second towards the back could be a sleeping loft for guests.

A view of the timber frame cupola in the lofted area. The cupola adds character to the barn home's exterior and also lets natural light in.

Lake Winnipesaukee Hybrid Timber Frame Home Under Construction

We recently worked on a unique hybrid timber frame home that is currently under construction in the Lake Winnipesaukee region of New Hampshire. The new home features a 16'X37' timber frame core with Douglas fir timbers and two specialty peeled Douglas fir logs. The wings of the home will be conventionally built.

Rick Bascom, co-owner of Davis Frame Company, worked with local builder Dave Wakefield to install the timber frame portion and the structural insulated roof panels. The house is currently being finished by Dave and his team. We will be sure to share updates as we receive them! For now, check out a few photos from the timber frame raising below:

The two interior peeled logs are joined together with a timber and is being raised into place with a crane.

The majority of the timber frame installation is complete.

The timber framed section of the home also features pine tongue and groove decking on the ceiling to  achieve the ultimate wood home look.
