Long Island Timber Frame Home Construction Underway

Jeff Davis, President and owner of Davis Timber Frame Company recently traveled down to Suffolk County New York to assist a local building crew and our client with hi timber frame raising! The new timber frame home is a modified version of our popular Classic Homestead 1 floor plan

This modified timber frame homestead features 1,900 square feet. Upon entering the home, a mudroom with a bench will be straight ahead. Turning out and going down the hall will lead you to a wing with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Beyond the bedroom wing will be the open concept great room, kitchen and dining room. The timber framed great room will feature a fireplace, a great place to enjoy chilly evenings. The kitchen will be equipped with a bar, so the family can enjoy breakfast together in the morning.

1st floor plan

Stairs off the main living area will lead you to an open loft, a great place to enjoy some quiet time and marveling of the timbers. Also the spacious master bedroom and bathroom are located on the second floor. The master bathroom will feature built-ins for linen and storage.

2nd floor plan

On Thursday, the crew finished up the first floor deck for the new home and today they will begin with the timber frame assembly. The crew will be working through the weekend to get the timber frame up. Stay tuned for more photos, we will have more to share next week!

Upcoming Project: A Timber Frame Home On The Columbia Gorge

Our Pacific Northwest Independent rep team, Central Oregon Timber Frame is currently working with our client's on a new timber frame home that will be shipping to the Columbia River Gorge area in Washington state. The new home will feature sweeping views of the Gorge and what a spectacular place for a new home!

The main floor plan will feature a spacious and open layout with the great room, dining room and kitchen all open to one another. This area of the home was designed to take advantage of the amazing views. The back end of the house will feature the spacious master bedroom suite.

To expand the timber frame home's living space, our client's chose to add a finished walk-out basement. This area includes a large recreational room, a wine cellar and two guest bedroom suites.

Currently the local building team is finishing up the foundation and site work. The timber frame raising is expected to happen some time in March and we will share the construction photos with you once the project is underway! Snowed In? No Problem! Fun Ideas For Staying Home

If you haven't heard the big news already, New England is in for a big snow storm tomorrow through Saturday with an expected accumulation of one to two feet! This may sound like a big amount (and it is) but back years ago, getting a foot of snow at one time was the norm; however, lately, our New England winters have been mild, so its all over the news!

What do you do when you are forced to stay in due to the hazardous weather? Many of our client's who build a new timber frame home build their home to be cozy and entertaining without needing to be entertained outside of the house! So have some friends over for the weekend and enjoy the big snow storm.

Check out some of our fun ideas of how to enjoy being home during a big storm:

This client created a wonderful multi-function room, equipped with a home theater, pool table, foosball and a fully stocked bar. Our client often hosts weekend guests and they spend the day on the slopes but spend the night in enjoying their timber frame home and all it has to offer. This would not be a bad place to enjoy during a storm!

Creating a sitting area such as this room shown above allows  for great conversation with guests. Sit by the fire and enjoy that hot cup of cocoa or glass of wine and play cards! Or if you desire time to yourself, pick up a good book. With a space like this, you won't mind if there's a blizzard outside!

What better way to relax during a snow storm than to enjoy a nice bath? Many of us don't often make time for ourselves, so if you're stuck at home during a blizzard enjoy that gorgeous bathroom that you planned for!

Many of us plan for our dream kitchen making sure it is equipped with all the tools we need to be an amateur chef! Have a recipe that you've been dying to try that may be time consuming? Looking to bake a cake? Take advantage of being hunkered down with the storm and create a fabulous meal. Your house will also smell wonderful!
